Nonprofits

Most of our work is with mission-driven organizations — nonprofits, foundations, and independent schools. We know what it’s like to have a communications job that belongs to everyone and nobody, a strategic plan that says what you’ll do but not what you’ll say, and a board that wants to see it all working by spring.

How We Can Help

Nonprofit brand strategy that starts with your strategic plan

The strategic planning process is a crucial, and familiar, part of nonprofit operations. But often the marketing and communications aspects of a plan are unspecific — a line about raising visibility, with nothing underneath it. We help translate a plan into something concrete: what to say, to whom, in what order.

Hire experts instead of a junior role

When resources and staff are limited, bringing in outside experts is often more cost-effective than hiring a more junior in-house person. We can set up the strategies and systems so a future hire has a blueprint to work from — or act as your communications experts on call.

Work out who you are actually reaching

We find out who you're reaching now, who you want to reach, and what the gap costs you — through analytics, peer analysis, and talking to the people inside the organization who have to live with the answer. For a craft school that meant reviewing ten peer institutions, running separate sessions with staff and trustees, and working out how to take a public position on equity without it reading as performance.

Published pricing

Our packages outline the scope and fee before you start, including ongoing access to an outside expert for organizations without the budget to hire.

“The backgrounds that they each bring to the table allowed for incredibly thoughtful, guided working activities as well as a terrific next-steps action plan. As an organization with limited budgets and big dreams, we found that incredibly valuable and helpful with minimal front work on our end.”
